With ever-increasing energy consumption, we\u2019re seeing an increase in greenhouse gas emissions, as well as water consumption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And given the present condition of the environment, the sooner we take action to correct our mistakes, the better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why you have to take the right steps to not just educate your building residents, but also lead by example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Educating Your Residents on &#8216;Going Green&#8217; Practices<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our individual habits play a major role in damaging the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leaving the <a href=\"http:\/\/cescos.fau.edu\/observatory\/lightpol-econ.html#US_Wasted_Lighting\">lights on throughout the day<\/a>, using too many <a href=\"https:\/\/oceanconservancy.org\/blog\/2012\/10\/12\/paper-towels-whats-the-big-deal-anyway\/\">disposable paper towels<\/a>, using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.treehugger.com\/sustainable-fashion\/debunking-the-hot-water-laundry-myth-why-are-consumers-so-superstitious-stubborn.html\">hot water<\/a>&nbsp;to wash our clothes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenamerica.org\/rethinking-recycling\/americans-are-really-bad-recycling-only-because-were-not-trying-very-hard\">not recycling<\/a>\u2014a little goes a long way, and unfortunately, the effects of these habits are becoming noticeable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there is still time to correct our mistakes. And we can start by bringing people together under one goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"646\" height=\"437\" src=\"https:\/\/mycoop.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/eco-concept-with-group-volunteers.png\" alt=\"eco concept with group volunteers\" class=\"wp-image-1470\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Planning a Good Strategy<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>First, note down the various problems occurring throughout the building that need attention. Incandescent bulbs, wilting plants, small mountains of plastic bags in trash cans\u2014find out what needs to be changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, announce an event on subsequent changes to your building and ask for feedback. While some might be reluctant to accept these changes, don\u2019t worry. Gather all their questions and concerns, and bring in a professional on climate change so they can provide informative answers for any queries your residents may have. Also, take their suggestions into account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For some changes, like bringing in recycling bins or upgrading to a smart thermostat, you\u2019ll need to host a fundraiser. For that, you\u2019ll need to make sure that everyone\u2019s onboard and willing to chip in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Take a Communal Approach to Improving the Environment<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mycoop.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/group-eco-partners-after-cleaning.png\" alt=\"group eco partners after cleaning\" class=\"wp-image-1471\" width=\"323\" height=\"219\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With such massive changes, you need to make sure that your building residents know that they\u2019re not alone in their efforts. So promote them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/mycoop.com\/product\">mycoop<\/a>&nbsp;as a content and communication platform, and be active in spreading awareness about the efforts your building residents are making. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Provide information on steps your residents can take to make their homes more eco-friendly, and be available if a resident has a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the leader of this movement, be present, and encourage and support the progress your residents are making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edf.org\/climate\/why-fighting-climate-change-so-urgent\">critical moment for the environment at present<\/a>.
