Q: What is mycoop?
A: mycoop is a social network platform designed for people living in residential buildings. Unlike other social networks that you may be familiar with, we are a “building based” social network which helps you to connect with your real neighbors and create a much closer community.
Q: How much does Mycoop cost?
A: Mycoop is free for all users.
Q: What is the difference between mycoop and other social networks?
A: Other social networks are typically defined by your existing circle of friends plus your friends’ circles of friends. When you sign up, you start with an empty network and then spend time to actively find/add people or follow them.
With mycoop, you are automatically connected to your registered neighbors as soon as you sign up. These may be people you have seen in the lobby or the lift but just haven’t had a chance to get acquainted with. mycoop gives you the opportunity to connect with people who live right in your immediate neighborhood.
Q: What can I do on mycoop?
A: Simply put, mycoop gives you the opportunity to have a stronger community within your building. You can connect with your neighbors and expand your network, you can help each other and seek recommendations on local businesses, you can share resources and buy/sell items, you can start similar interest groups, etc.
Q: How can I create an account?
A: To create an account, first enter your building into the search bar. If your building already exists on mycoop, just fill out the information asked and join your building. If you building is not registered yet on mycoop, please add it and fill out your personal information.
Q: Why do I need an account to use mycoop?
A: We require users to sign up for an account in order to verify that they actually live in the building. In order to do so we ask for your phone number and verify that it matches with your address. The value of Mycoop lies in the ability for users to tap into a dedicated network that contains specific information relevant to them.
Q: Why do I need to provide my building address to register?
A: It is important to us that the building is a true and accurate reflection of the people who live there. We want to ensure your building is a safe and private network so we take measures to verify that each person who registers is really living in their stated building.
Q: How do you verify my address?
A: We match your phone number with the publicly registered address that is associated with that number.
Note: we will never send any marketing content on your phone without your authorization.
Q: Why do you need my birthday?
A: We require users of mycoop to be at least 13 years old in order to create an account. We use your birthday to verify your age.
Q: Who can see my personal information?
A: Only your username will be displayed to your neighbors, and sensitive personal details (e.g. email or address details) will not be disclosed. We will never share your personal information with any third parties and/or advertisers. Please refer to our Privacy section for more details.
Q: What if my building is not already on mycoop?
A: If your building is not on the platform you can easily create it during the registration process. After completing the creation of your building you will be able to invite your neighbors to join you on my coop.
Q: Mycoop can’t find my building address, what do I do?
A: If you can’t find your address please contact us at hello@mycoop.com, we will add your address as soon as possible.
